Into the Wild

"We have been enjoying every day. Every day is a new adventure with a new path in front of us with new people to meet. We had to make it to Lance Creek to camp on Friday night. It is one of the last spots to stop before entering a 5 mile area where bear-resistant canisters are required for your food. We did not want one due to price and carry weight so we planned our camping accordingly. We do hang our food bags every night regardless. Just a smart practice. They are hung high away from your tent area by throwing the para cord over the tree branch and several feet out from the trunks. Bears climb.
Here are some of the people we camped with at Lance Creek....Astro-Wookie, Cookie, Ghost, Sweet Daddy, Odin and Twizzler (father and daughter), and Reboot. Reboot started as Mama Bear but got to thinking if someone yelled to her "Mama Bear!" that people might start looking around for one!
One thing I have learned-
When someone on the trail coming toward us says "it's not far", "it's just around that bend up there", "you're getting close".......it means something completely different to me!  Don't sugarcoat it, ha-ha!  But I know they're being encouraging.
We crossed Blood Mountain yesterday. Wow-to the climb, the descent, but wow to the view!  Worth it. Here is the trail/elevation we did yesterday plus more pics.
