Short Time Off

We made a decision to come home for about 3 weeks from the trail. We had decided that our pace lends itself to section hiking rather than thru hiking. We are okay with that. We don't hurry and we have hiked 6-8 hours a day consistently.  We have done 13-14 mile days. And also less mileage/day. Our options would have been to keep hiking and go as far as possible or to flip flop and finish that way. What we decided to do is to go back to the Smokies in 3 weeks and hike the 74 miles through the park then continue to where we left off to go over 300 miles. Right now we are at 216 miles. We will drive up and park the car and also meet Beep who will  be coming back to the trail to continue together. So we are not finished hiking.  We want to take advantage of the time off that we have but we need to be back here in July.
Some good reasons to be back for these 3 weeks is we will be able to celebrate the May birthdays in our family which are quite a few. We also will be able to join our church family to walk to our new facility at the end of this month. Good stuff!
Here are some recent trail pics. More to come when we get back to the Smokies. We should be leaving around June 1 to have some more living in the woods!

Tab said she doesn't need any birthday gifts now. You coming home is the best birthday gift ever! Love you and can't wait to see you.

I like this quote by Meryl Streep: "This is your time and it feels normal to you, but really, there is no normal. There's only change and resistance to it and then more change."
How awesome that you had a change, now you have another, then you have more, and that you see each as opportunities and blessings yet unrealized!
God bless you both as you reunite with those who love you and as you plan for the next chapter! Love, Robin
