Beginnings

For many who know us, you know we have made the decision that this is the year, involving about 6 months, that we are going to start our thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.  For our friends who are just now hearing this from this post, it's happening. "Class of '15". 

We have a blog that has been in existence as DV and AV in the RV since we sold our stuff 4 1/2 years ago and started living full time in our fifth wheel while we traveled working in campgrounds. This blog has now been retitled DV and AV on the AT. As I post, I will occasionally upload some of those posts to FB. The best way to follow us and any pics and videos, though, is at vickbits.blogpost.com. 

I have much more to say. I also will put out some basic info about the trail for those who may not know about it. 

Also...why would we want to walk 2189 miles through 14 states in heat and cold and rain? (No, we're not crazy...are we?) Hey, don't forget about all those beautiful perfect weather days that will be happening, too!

And...how will we live in the woods for 6 months carrying everything on our backs? Hmmmm...

Until our departure date in mid-March, I will randomly make a few posts. Once we get started walking north, I will be more intentional with posting on a regular basis as we journey.
