So Much to See

We left Chocorua NH KOA on October 17 starting to head south. While in NH for that short month, on our days off, we were able to go on the Crawford Notch train ride through the mountains. Also, we drove up the Mt. Washington auto road. Quite precarious at times but so worth it.  Home of the "world's worst weather" at the top where the famous observatory is.  We had a beautiful clear day on our drive. At the top, quite sad to see the posted names on a board of over a hundred people who have died on the mountain.  Mostly from falling while hiking, etc. I had to quit reading.

Before going south, we headed west to Vermont since we were so close and had never been in the state.  We were there and also in NH for prime leaf peeping time.  It was gorgeous. In Vermont, we went to Cabot's Creamery and saw cheese being made. And we had to buy a block of cheddar of course. We also went to the Vermont Country Store and Cold Hollow Cider Mill.  And throw in a factory tour to Ben & Jerry's.  The tour was impressive and at the end we got our free sample which was Late Night Snack.  After the tour, we went over to the Flavor Graveyard.  I hope Chunky Monkey never ends up there!

A highlight of our trip was stopping for 4 days to stay with friends, Rob & Cathy, on Long Island. We put our RV in temporary storage about 3 hrs away then drove in.  There was no way we were going to tow over the George Washington Bridge onto LI.  We had some great (girls rule!) games of Skip-Bo and got to go to a Fall festival and also east to the water on Long Island.  It worked out that we were there on a Sunday so it was an extra treat to get to attend a service at their church and also see the great new building that they have completed.  So nice!

After leaving there, we went through Harrisburg and got to have dinner with the Morrisons at Cracker Barrel (the only place on the road that has RV parking other than truck stops- lol).  We were glad the whole family could show up.  It was short but sweet!

Gettysburg PA was next on our list.  Another place we had never been.  We took the narrated by the guide bus tour and made many stops.  It is amazing to think about that time in our history.  The battlefields literally are all around the "town" of Gettysburg and now they are beautiful fields.  But when you stop to consider the devestation that took place there, it is sobering.

The best part of all was stopping in Raleigh and spending time with Autumn and the boys.  We were able to stay 12 days which was a treat since some of our trips have had to be much shorter.  There was time to relax, and enjoy the family.  The weather was just about right, not too cold yet.  We had fun on Halloween trick or treating on Main Street with the boys, or should I say..the zombie, ninja turtle, and Hawkeye.

Now we are in St. Pete till April.. or at least I am.  Dale has his Florida Adjuster License and was called up to work the Sandy storm.  His base is in Melville, LI and there is non-stop work up there for months. We hope he can make a quick trip home for Christmas but that is unsure.  He was only able to enjoy a short time with the kids here and the warm weather.  On his first day up there, it snowed! Such is life!  And he was so looking forward to our sunshine in the Burg!

So much fun and I am worn out just reading through all your travels. Certainly hope Dale gets a chance to enjoy some warmer weather this season and you enjoy the rays yourself! Loved seeing you guys, I am determined that we could never ever have enough time with the Vicks. Love you guys much and can't wait to see you again. Michelle Morrison
